Swarp Co

(Music Events Wing)

People have been swarping *responsibly* at Wiley’s Last Resort since 1996. The name Swarp Co. comes from an old Soiree shirt designed by Robert Gipe. While planning year two of Supermoon Festival in 2014, the first year Supermoon was hosted at WLR, we were trying to think of a name for our production company. Our good friend Paul Kuzcko was wearing one of his many Soiree shirts. He responded, “I think I got it guys!” Kuzcko pointed at the design on his shirt, “Why don't you guys call it Swarp Co?” Right then and there life imitating art Swarp Co. was born. We have a very similar story of how we came up with M.A.R.S. Collective as a name, but that is a story for another page on this website. We had the groundwork laid out for us in many ways by Jim Webb.

We seek to keep the memory of Jim alive in much of our programming, but Swarp Co. is at the heart of it all. We plan to keep bringing diverse music and entertainment to our community. While sometimes we may bring in friends from outside the region Swarp Co. is heavily dedicated to supporting local music. There is no better music in the entire WHIRLED than music made by folks from Kentucky and Central Appalachia. We place great value on creating a platform for these artists to share their sounds with the local community and folks from all around. Many people who got their start on our stage have gone on to do great things in the music industry.
